Session ends while our work continues

Posted on July 3, 2009

Thank you for your input for the past six months. On Monday, the Oregon Legislature adjourned their session one day early, navigating the toughest economic climate in generations. Despite a massive budget shortfall we made sure that schools, human services, and public safety avoided crippling cuts. Tough choices were made as programs were streamlined and we laid a foundation for a prosperous future.

I could not have made the tough choices without your input. I received more than 1,200 emails and dozens of phone calls from constituents. Town halls and coffees have drawn about 100 people and numerous spirited discussions so far. If I haven't heard from you yet, then I especially hope to hear from you soon.

One simple way you can communicate with me today is to complete an online survey about your priorities. The survey should take 10 minutes to complete.

You are also invited to join me at regular coffee gatherings on first and third Saturdays of each month each at 10 - 11 am. The next two coffees are:

Damascus, July 4:
  Coffee Unlimited - 19880 SE Highway 212.
Clackamas, July 18:
Starbucks - 10255 SE Sunnyside Road.

Also, if you are watching the Estacada 4th of July parade on Saturday please say hello as I pass by.

Down the road, I will hold a town hall at the Boring Grange from 7-8:30 on Tuesday, July 28.

Have a wonderful and safe Independence Day weekend.
