Brent's Story
A lawyer and community activist, Brent Barton has always fought for people who work hard and play by the rules. Clackamas County voters first elected Brent to the Oregon House in 2008, after he personally knocked on over 11,000 doors (earning three dog bites in the process). In Salem, Brent quickly earned a reputation as a creative problem-solver. Brent co-wrote legislation that cracked down on metal theft, a law since copied by other states. Brent also championed protections for children, seniors, and veterans, including legislation allowing consumers to hold banks accountable for unfair practices.
Brent is a third-generation Oregonian. Brent's father went to school in Estacada, where Brent's grandfather worked as a logger. Brent attended Oregon public schools and went on to earn degrees from Stanford, Cambridge, and Harvard Law School. As an attorney, Brent helps injured people receive compensation from insurance companies.
In his free time, Brent and his fiancée volunteer for two causes important to them: supporting local arts organizations and engaging young people in law and government.
